FJCCI, BIT Mesra Sign MoU to Boost Skill Development and Industry Collaboration

In a move aimed at strengthening industry-academia collaboration in Jharkhand, the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) has reached an agreement with Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra to jointly promote skill development, innovation and applied research.

The proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) seeks to establish a structured partnership between industry and academic institutions to enhance employability, encourage knowledge exchange and align training with industry requirements.

According to the chamber, the collaboration will focus on:

  • Skill development and industry-oriented training
  • Promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Joint research and knowledge-sharing initiatives
  • Organising training, development and consultancy programmes

The initiative is expected to provide students with practical exposure and industry-relevant skills, improving their employment prospects. At the same time, industries are likely to benefit from access to a more skilled and job-ready workforce.

FJCCI president Aditya Malhotra said the MoU marks a significant step toward building a stronger interface between industry and education. He said the collaboration will help students gain practical experience, modern skills and exposure to innovation, preparing them for future challenges.

The agreement was finalised at the BIT Mesra campus in the presence of chamber office-bearers including general secretary Rohit Agarwal, joint secretary Navjot Alang, executive member Shailesh Agarwal, and Skill Development Sub-Committee chairman Alok Kumar and Priyank Bhagat.

From BIT Mesra, dean (research) Prof Rajeev Poddar, dean (postgraduate studies) Prof S S Solanki, dean (student affairs) Prof Praveen Srivastava and head of the Department of Management Prof S K Jha were present.

The programme concluded at the BIT Mesra campus.
