Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has formally announced that it will neither contest nor campaign in the Bihar Assembly elections this year. The announcement was made by senior JMM leader and minister Sudivya Kumar during a press briefing in Giridih.

Kumar accused the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress of political duplicity, saying their “cunning tactics” from October 7 to 20 forced JMM to step back. He warned that the consequences of these actions would become evident in due course.

“Had it been clear from the beginning that JMM would not get seats, we could have contested independently. Instead, deliberate manoeuvring by RJD, with Congress support, left us in a difficult position,” Kumar said.

Expressing regret, he added, “With a heavy heart, JMM announces it will not participate in the Bihar elections. The political deceit of the alliance leadership has harmed our position, and RJD-Congress will have to face the consequences.”

The announcement highlights a significant rift in the Mahagathbandhan ahead of Bihar’s elections, raising questions about the opposition coalition’s strategy and cohesion.
