Nemra (Ramgarh): Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday handed over a cheque for ₹10 lakh to support the ear treatment of six-year-old Anoop Besra of Ramgarh district, after the district administration completed the required procedures under the Chief Minister’s Serious Illness Treatment Scheme within 48 hours.
Anoop is undergoing treatment at Christian Medical College in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. His father, Ramkishun Besra, had approached the chief minister in Nemra, seeking financial assistance because the cost of treatment was beyond the family’s means.
According to the family, doctors have recommended replacing the child’s inner ear, a procedure expected to involve substantial expenditure.
Soren directed officials to expedite the process after the family brought the matter to his attention. The Ramgarh district administration subsequently completed the formalities, enabling the grant to be provided within 48 hours.
The cheque was handed over in Nemra, the chief minister’s ancestral village, where he is staying for the funeral rites of his late mother, Rupi Soren.
During his visit, Soren met residents who had come to present their grievances and directed the concerned officials to take appropriate action.
Anoop’s father expressed gratitude for the assistance, saying it would help the family continue his son’s treatment.
