Nitin Nabin Calls for ‘Mission Jharkhand’ Ahead of 2029 Polls

RANCHI: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Saturday called upon party workers in Jharkhand to launch a concerted organisational drive to bring the party back to power in the state in the 2029 Assembly elections, describing the effort as a mission requiring renewed energy, coordination and sustained public outreach.

Addressing the opening session of the BJP Jharkhand state executive committee meeting at Haveli Banquet Hall in Kanke, Ranchi, Nabin urged workers to take the issues discussed at the meeting to the people through the party’s organisational network.

“Jharkhand is our stronghold. The day we resolve to win it, no force can stop us,” he said, expressing confidence that party workers were ready to bring the BJP back to power.

Recalling his personal association with Jharkhand, Nabin said the state was his birthplace and that a significant part of his education had taken place there. He recalled the role of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the creation of Jharkhand and urged workers to strengthen the party’s presence across the state.

Nabin cited the BJP’s electoral efforts in West Bengal as an example of how sustained organisational work could help the party overcome difficult circumstances. He called for greater coordination among leaders and workers and regular engagement with the public.

BJP targets youth and recruitment issues

The BJP president asked party leaders to raise issues concerning students and young people, including recruitment irregularities and allegations of corruption, and to pursue them through democratic means from the streets to the Assembly.

He said such issues should not be taken up only during elections and urged leaders to identify constituency-level concerns and mobilise public support around them.

Nabin also called for stronger outreach to beneficiaries of Central government welfare schemes, irrespective of their political affiliations. He said workers should explain the benefits of these programmes to people in villages and urban areas.

Referring to Ayushman Bharat, he recalled that the scheme was launched nationally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ranchi in September 2018.

Nabin attacks Congress and opposition

The BJP president criticised the Congress over its record on constitutional institutions and democracy, accusing the party of undermining constitutional values during its tenure, including during the Emergency.

He also accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of disrespecting constitutional institutions and alleged that opposition parties questioning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls were more concerned about protecting infiltrators than safeguarding citizens’ rights. These were political allegations made in his address.

Nabin further attacked the Congress and the opposition over their response to student concerns, claiming that they had failed to adequately support young people facing problems related to recruitment and examinations.

He said the BJP would continue to raise issues relating to law and order, corruption and governance in Jharkhand.

Tribal identity and development in focus

Referring to Jharkhand’s tribal heritage, Nabin invoked tribal icon Birsa Munda and the observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas on November 15, which coincides with the state’s foundation day. He also referred to Droupadi Murmu’s election as India’s first tribal woman President.

He said the party should build on its organisational presence in the state and connect its political outreach with development and welfare initiatives.

Nabin said BJP workers should work with a sense of service and commitment, placing the organisation and public interest above personal ambitions. He described the party’s approach as continuous engagement with people rather than part-time political activity.

District-level organisation reviewed

Before the state executive meeting, Nabin held a joint meeting with presidents and in-charges of the BJP’s 31 organisational districts in Jharkhand to review the party’s functioning and identify areas requiring improvement.

The two-day state executive meeting is expected to focus on organisational strengthening, political strategy and preparations for the 2029 Assembly elections.

The meeting was chaired by state BJP president Aditya Sahu, while state general secretary Ganesh Mishra conducted the proceedings. Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi and other senior party leaders were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Sahu accused the Hemant Soren-led state government of corruption and failing to address issues concerning students, jobs and public welfare. He called on party workers to intensify their grassroots outreach and challenge the state government’s policies.

The meeting forms part of the BJP’s efforts to consolidate its organisation and expand its support base in Jharkhand ahead of the next Assembly elections.
