Jharkhand Launches AI Training for Rural Governance, Minister Urges Wider Adoption
The workshop, organised by the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) in Hehal, focuses on building awareness and practical understanding of AI tools among government officials.
Inaugurating the programme, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh said artificial intelligence should be viewed as a tool to improve efficiency, not as a replacement for human roles.
“Technology cannot replace humans, but understanding and using it effectively has become essential,” she said, urging officials to adopt AI in day-to-day administrative work.
The initiative is part of a broader plan to train around 450 participants through six programmes. More than 60 officials are attending the current session.
The training modules include:
- Data understanding and forecasting
- Survey and data collection methods
- AI-based tools for communication and administration
- Practical applications of AI in governance
Experts from leading institutions and technology firms are conducting the sessions.
The programme, supported by the department’s AI Support Cell, reflects a shift towards technology-led governance in Jharkhand.
The minister also cautioned officials against misuse of data, stressing the need for responsible handling of information in digital systems.
She added that similar workshops will be conducted at district and block levels to expand adoption.
Senior officials, including JSLPS CEO Ananya Mittal, along with departmental officers and technical experts, attended the inaugural session.
The focus on AI training at the administrative level signals an early-stage institutional push towards digital governance.
The next step will be translating this capacity into field-level impact, particularly through SHGs and grassroots functionaries, where adoption can significantly improve delivery outcomes.
