RSS-Commemorative Coin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday unveiled a Rupee 100 commemorative coin and a special postage stamp to mark the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The release took place at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi in the presence of RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

The Prime Minister noted that this is the first time in the history of independent India that the image of Bharat Mata has been carved onto an Indian coin.

Features of the Commemorative Coin and Stamp

  • The Rupee 100 coin carries the national emblem on one side.
  • On the reverse, it features Bharat Mata seated on a lion in Varad Mudra, with swayamsevaks bowing before her.
  • The coin also bears the Sangh’s guiding motto: “Rashtraya Swaha, Idam Rashtraya, Idam Na Mama.”
  • The postage stamp depicts RSS swayamsevaks participating in the 1963 Republic Day Parade, a moment PM Modi described as a proud chapter in the organisation’s history.

This coin is the 23rd commemorative coin issued in 2025, minted by the India Government Mint, Kolkata. Bookings for Proof and UNC sets will soon open on the Mint’s official website.

PM Modi’s Address

RSS-Coin

Extending greetings on Navratri, PM Modi said the centenary coincided with Maha Navami and Vijayadashami, symbolising the triumph of justice, truth, and light over darkness. He described the RSS as a “virtuous incarnation of national consciousness”, comparing it to a river that nourishes countless lives and branches into streams—referring to the organisation’s affiliated bodies across education, agriculture, social welfare, women’s empowerment, and more.

“The RSS has pursued one grand objective nation building by strengthening individuals as the foundation of national development. Shakhas have been central to this disciplined path,” he said.

The Prime Minister also underlined that despite challenges, bans, and attempts to malign it, the RSS never harboured bitterness. Instead, it has remained committed to unity, service, and national integration.

RSS at 100 Years

Founded in 1925 in Nagpur by Dr. K.B. Hedgewar, the RSS has grown into one of India’s largest volunteer-based organisations, with activities spanning cultural, social, and national service.

Marking its centenary, the release of the coin and stamp was described by PM Modi as both a tribute to Bharat Mata and a reflection of the Sangh’s century-long journey of service and dedication.
