Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chatra district administration to support housing strengthening for Birhor families under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Under the agreement, housing structures of 28 Birhor families residing in Dhuna Panchayat of Itkhori block in Chatra district will be strengthened.
CCL will provide Rs 28,49,700 to the district administration for execution of the project.

- Manoj Toppo, District Mining Officer-cum-Nodal Officer (CSR), on behalf of Chatra district administration

Focus on PVTG Welfare
The initiative targets the Birhor community, classified among Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), with the aim of improving living conditions through safer and more durable housing.
CSR Context
According to the release, the project is part of CCL’s ongoing CSR efforts to support vulnerable communities.
The company stated that such interventions are aimed at strengthening basic infrastructure and contributing to the social and economic empowerment of marginalized groups.
The housing support initiative is expected to improve living conditions for Birhor families in Chatra, aligning with broader efforts to enhance welfare outcomes for PVTGs in Jharkhand.
