Budget 2026–27 meeting

Jharkhand Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore on Sunday said the state’s Abua Dishom Budget 2026–27 would be dedicated to “Maiyan Samman, Maiyan Utthan”, underlining the government’s focus on women-led development and inclusive growth.

Addressing a pre-budget consultation meeting with bankers at the FFP Building in Ranchi, the minister described banks as the “third pillar of state resources” and stressed their crucial role in uplifting economically weaker sections.

He said suggestions received from bankers would be incorporated into the upcoming budget, which will be presented during Jharkhand’s silver jubilee year, making it both symbolic and substantive in nature.

‘A model budget for other states’

Kishore said the Abua Dishom Budget 2026–27 aims to be unique, strong and people-centric, crafted largely around Jharkhand’s own resources. “This budget should set an example for other states. It should reflect innovation, inclusivity and long-term sustainability,” he said.

The finance minister informed that more than 1,550 suggestions have already been received through the Abua Dishom Budget mobile application, reflecting strong public participation in the budget-making process.

Women empowerment a core priority

Highlighting the government’s commitment to women empowerment under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Kishore said schemes like Maiyan Samman have strengthened women economically and socially.

He urged banks to expand their engagement with women beneficiaries and self-help groups to promote financial inclusion and entrepreneurship. “Bankers can play a transformative role in making women self-reliant,” he said.

Banks to adopt villages

In a key announcement, the minister said banks have agreed in principle to adopt at least 100 villages across the state during the next financial year, focusing specifically on women’s upliftment through structured financial and development interventions.

Senior officials present at the meeting included State Finance Commission Chairman Amarendra Pratap Singh, Expenditure Secretary Abu Imran, Commerce Secretary Amit Kumar, finance expert Haridwar Dayal and Special Secretary Sandeep Singh. Representatives from SBI, HDFC Bank, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank, Bank of India and other public and private sector banks also attended the consultation.
