Eastern Tech Symposium

Ranchi: The Eastern Tech Symposium 2025, held at Kerketa Auditorium in Dipatoli Cantonment, showcased the rising potential of the Jharkhand defense industry. The event was chaired by Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and organized by the Army’s Eastern Command, the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) represented the state’s industrial sector.

Defense-Industry Partnership

FJCCI President Paresh Gattani said Jharkhand’s identity may rest on minerals and steel, but the real strength lies in entrepreneurs and skilled talent. He stressed that local industries can support the Indian Army’s requirements. “Supplying to the Army will expand trade and bring pride to every Jharkhandi,” he said. The Chamber plans to act as a bridge between the Army, industry, and government.

Economic Development and National Security

Linking with the defense supply chain is seen as a chance to diversify Jharkhand’s economy. It opens opportunities for MSMEs and startups to grow beyond traditional sectors. At the same time, Jharkhand-made products in the Army’s use would directly contribute to national security, adding both pride and purpose.

Policy Push and Capacity Building

Union Minister Sanjay Seth urged industries to participate in East Tech 2025, scheduled next month. He called it a vital platform for Jharkhand entrepreneurs to enter defense manufacturing. The Chamber also announced plans for training workshops to help local businesses meet defense supply standards.

Local Talent and Innovation

FJCCI Secretary General Aditya Malhotra highlighted the “immense scope” for collaboration between the Army and industries. Joint Secretary Navjot Alang added that connecting local enterprises to defense needs would create growth and strengthen the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Both leaders stressed that innovation and skilled manpower make Jharkhand a strong candidate to emerge as a defense hub.

Future Outlook

The symposium is seen as a curtain-raiser for East Tech 2025. Industry leaders believe it could bring jobs, investment, industrial diversification, and national recognition to Jharkhand. With defense partnerships on the horizon, the Jharkhand defense industry may soon play a central role in strengthening India’s security and economy.
