Jharkhand’s Natural and Tribal Products Take Center Stage at World Food India 2025

The World Food India 2025, India’s largest food and food processing expo, is currently underway at the India Pavilion in Delhi. Among the states participating, Jharkhand is attracting attention for its rich natural and tribal produce, highlighting the state’s unique culinary heritage and organic offerings.

Organized by the Jharkhand government through its Industries Department, the state pavilion is showcasing a wide range of traditional and natural products, including ragi laddoos, namkeen, mahua sweets, bamboo karela pickles, and mushroom-based delicacies. These products are not just a treat for visitors but also represent a bridge between tribal communities and commercial markets.

Empowering Farmers and Tribal Communities

Jharkhand’s natural products are creating significant economic opportunities for local farmers. Ragi, sourced from over 26,000 farmers across the state, is being processed and distributed not only within Jharkhand but also across India through online retail and traditional distribution channels.

The pavilion also features innovative products like mushroom pickles, mushroom jellies, and chocolates, which are gaining popularity due to their health benefits and organic origin. Traditional pickles made from jackfruit, foxnuts, olives, mahua, bamboo karela, tamarind, and singhan are drawing visitors’ attention.

With changing consumer lifestyles, there is an increasing demand for organic products. Items like mahua, ragi powder, jamun powder, and natural vinegar are seeing high sales. Local entrepreneurs and cooperatives are working closely with tribal communities to ensure these products reach broader markets while maintaining authenticity and sustainability.

A Celebration of Culture and Sustainability

The Jharkhand pavilion at World Food India 2025 is not only about sales but also about storytelling—showcasing the simplicity, resilience, and ingenuity of tribal communities. By connecting farmers and producers with national and international markets, Jharkhand is positioning its natural products as both culturally significant and commercially viable.

Visitors to the pavilion are engaging with the products, learning about traditional processing methods, and taking home flavors that reflect the state’s natural richness. The expo highlights how Jharkhand is blending tradition with modernity, turning natural resources into sustainable livelihoods for its people.
