The Jharkhand Police, in collaboration with the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI), held a statewide meeting under the leadership of DGP Anurag Gupta at Police Headquarters, Ranchi. The meeting, conducted via video conferencing, included senior police officials, district police chiefs, and representatives from state and district-level chambers of commerce. The discussion focused on maintaining law and order and preventing crime during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath Mahaparv.
The DGP reviewed law and order situations across districts and instructed police officers to strengthen security measures with the support of local chambers. “Business communities are the mirror of society, driving employment and growth. Police must maintain constructive dialogue and partnership with them,” he said.
Key directives from the meeting include the installation of CCTV cameras in shops, industrial complexes, residential societies, malls, ATMs, market complexes, bus stands, airports, and railway station parking areas. The DGP emphasized that cameras should cover both interiors and exteriors to aid crime investigation. Banks have also been advised to upgrade internet-enabled CCTV systems for better monitoring.
Chamber President Aditya Malhotra suggested regular police-business committee meetings, improved responsiveness in issuing arms licenses, enhanced night patrolling in commercial zones, and active involvement of market associations in police patrols. Cybersecurity measures, including a dedicated Business Cyber Helpdesk, were proposed to ensure swift action on online fraud and digital payment complaints. DGP Gupta directed all district SPs to implement these measures promptly.
Regional initiatives were also highlighted. In Deoghar, police will ensure a tourist-friendly environment by promoting helplines, setting up “Me-I Help You” desks, launching CCTV campaigns, and controlling substance abuse. Employee and tenant verification will be enforced in larger cities like Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Dhanbad. Proposals for establishing Traffic Observation Points (TOPs) and police pickets between Chakradharpur and Chaibasa, as well as in the Barhi industrial area, have been sent to district SPs for implementation.
The meeting also emphasized cybercrime readiness, active cyber stations, publicizing helpline numbers, and ensuring monthly police-business coordination meetings at the police station level.
Rohit Agrawal, FJCCI Secretary General, noted that sustained dialogue between police and the business community is crucial for maintaining a secure and positive commercial environment. He said these measures will enhance trust, safeguard investments, and create a safer ecosystem for trade and tourism across Jharkhand.
Attendees at the Police Headquarters included Chamber President Aditya Malhotra, Vice Presidents Praveen Lohia and Ram Bangar, Secretary General Rohit Agrawal, Joint Secretaries Navjot Alang and Rohit Poddar, Treasurer Anil Agrawal, and senior police officials.
