National PR Conclave 2025 Begins in Ranchi, CCL Leads PR Dialogue

National PR Conclave 2025 Begins in Ranchi

Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) inaugurated the first-ever National Public Relations Conclave in Jharkhand at the Gangotri Convention Centre, CCL Headquarters, Darbhanga House, Ranchi. The two-day event is themed “Redefining PR: From Information to Engagement in the Era of Digitalization”. The conclave aims to explore the evolving role of public relations in corporate and public sectors and promote dialogue on trust, engagement, and credibility in the digital age.

The inauguration began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and presentation of mementos. Children performed a Ganesh Vandana and CCL’s Corporate Communications Department screened a short film titled Khaamosh highlighting the changing role of PR in a digitally connected world.

Speakers Highlight Strategic PR and Trust Building

Vinay Ranjan, Director (HR), Coal India Limited and chief guest at the event, said the conclave is a proud moment for the entire Coal India family. He stressed the importance of positive storytelling to counter negative media narratives. He also highlighted the success of the Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society, a joint initiative between CCL and the Government of Jharkhand.

Satish Jha, CMD, Eastern Coalfields Limited, explained the difference between PR and advertising. He said that honest communication, empathy, and strategy together build a strong corporate reputation. Nilendu Kumar Singh, CMD, CCL, added that effective communication is the foundation of organizational success. He emphasized that in the age of artificial intelligence, information exchange is critical and true communication occurs when what is said is understood.

Advertising guru Prahlad Kakkar delivered the keynote address. He said that an organization’s identity is shaped not only by its work but also by the trust it builds through public relations. He urged organizations to involve youth in strategic decision-making to create a more inclusive and progressive future.

K.G. Suresh, Director, Indian Habitat Centre, highlighted the importance of quick and responsible communication in a fast-paced media environment. He showed how emotional storytelling can cross linguistic and geographical barriers while maintaining accuracy. Dr. Surbhi Dahiya, HOD (MBS), IIMC, discussed understanding target audiences and leveraging industry insights. Devvrat Singh, HOD, CUJ, spoke about emerging career opportunities in communication and PR.

Student Engagement and Professional Development

Over 300 participants, including students from mass communication, journalism, and marketing programs, attended the conclave. Many students participated in question-and-answer sessions to learn about corporate communications, digital PR strategies, and career opportunities. Alok Kumar Gupta, HOD, Corporate Communications & PR, CCL, said the conclave provided a platform for exchanging ideas and gaining new perspectives on public relations.

Spotlight Awards Recognize Excellence

The conclave also featured the Spotlight Awards to honor excellence in corporate communications and public relations. Categories include Organizational Award, Corporate Individual Award, Student Award, PR Luminary of the Year, Social Media Excellence Award, and Best PR Campaign of the Year. The awards aim to encourage innovation and professional growth in the PR sector.

The first edition of the National PR Conclave demonstrates that public relations is a strategic bridge between organizations and society. Transparent communication, empathy, and engagement are essential for building trust and a strong corporate identity. The event establishes a new benchmark for PR innovation in India and aims to nurture a generation of communicators ready to meet the challenges of the digital era.
