Tata Steel named Gold Employer at IWEI 2025 for fifth year

Tata Steel has been recognised as a Gold Employer by the India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) 2025 for the fifth consecutive year, highlighting its sustained focus on workplace inclusion and equality.

The recognition was announced at the 6th edition of the IWEI Summit & Awards, which saw participation from over 100 organisations. The Gold Employer status reflects Tata Steel’s continued efforts to integrate diversity and inclusion across policies, leadership practices, talent systems and employee engagement.

Atrayee Sanyal, Chief People Officer, Tata Steel Group, said the recognition reaffirmed the company’s belief that diversity strengthens innovation and organisational resilience, adding that the focus remains on creating a workplace where every employee feels valued and supported.

During the year, Tata Steel marked several milestones, including the launch of the world’s first all-women shift in mining operations at Noamundi, the induction of an all-women firefighting crew in Jamshedpur, and deployment of women employees across all three shifts at its Kalinganagar plant.

The company has also strengthened its Parental Benefit Policy to promote equitable caregiving responsibilities and continues to implement its Gender Reassignment Policy, which provides confidential access to gender affirmation support for employees.

Tata Steel’s diversity and inclusion journey began in 2015 with the launch of MOSAIC, an initiative addressing inclusion across women, LGBTQIA+ communities, persons with disabilities and affirmative action through structured interventions.

The India Workplace Equality Index is the country’s first comprehensive benchmarking framework that measures employers’ progress on LGBT+ inclusion across key areas, including policies, benefits, leadership commitment and community engagement.
