Jharkhand may lose nearly ₹2,000 crore in state revenues with the rollout of GST, Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishor said at the 4th Jharkhand Mining Summit in Ranchi. He assured that banks like SBI and HDFC would support the sector and urged mining companies to direct CSR funds toward social challenges while exploring carbon credit opportunities for sustainable practices.
The summit, organised by PHDCCI with support from the Ministry of Coal, focused on “Advances in Sustainable Mining.” Senior forest official Ravi Ranjan emphasized balancing mineral extraction with forest conservation, suggesting Ramgadar as a site for solar projects. He noted Jharkhand is the first state to form a task force for sustainable mining.
PHDCCI Chair Dr. Sanjay Kumar highlighted the need for technological upgrades, while IDL Explosives Director Prabhat Ranjan called for biodiversity-linked research partnerships.
With nearly 350 participants, the summit underscored that mining in Jharkhand must now go beyond economics, integrating technology, environment, and social responsibility.
