In a significant step towards strengthening Jharkhand’s global economic engagement, the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) has written to more than 30 foreign embassies in India, inviting them to explore investment opportunities and long term trade partnerships in the state.
The diplomatic outreach covers embassies of Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Malaysia, Nepal, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia and Singapore.
According to the Chamber, the initiative is aimed at presenting Jharkhand’s industrial and business potential directly to global stakeholders and encouraging structured engagement between foreign investors and local industry.
Mineral strength and industrial potential
In its communication, FJCCI president Aditya Malhotra highlighted Jharkhand’s strategic importance as one of India’s most mineral rich states. Nearly 40 percent of the country’s mineral resources are located in Jharkhand, making it a natural hub for metals, mining and mineral based industries.
The Chamber pointed out that the state’s resource base provides strong opportunities not only in mining but also in value addition, downstream manufacturing and export oriented industries.
Focus on new growth sectors
Beyond traditional mining, the outreach places strong emphasis on emerging sectors such as green energy and critical minerals, automobile parts and engineering industries, food and feed processing, skill development and education.
These sectors, the Chamber said, align with global investment trends and offer long term growth prospects for international companies looking to establish or expand operations in India.
Investor friendly policy framework
The letters also highlighted the Jharkhand government’s investor friendly policy environment, particularly the Jharkhand Industrial Investment Promotion Policy. The policy focuses on ease of doing business, faster clearances and incentives aimed at attracting both domestic and foreign investment.
The Chamber believes that policy stability, combined with Jharkhand’s natural resources and workforce, positions the state as a competitive investment destination.
Invitation for direct engagement
As part of the initiative, all diplomatic missions have been formally invited to visit the Chamber headquarters in Ranchi. The proposed interactions aim to facilitate direct dialogue between foreign representatives and Jharkhand’s industrial and business community, with a focus on identifying concrete areas of collaboration.
Chamber secretary general Rohit Agrawal said that a high level business delegation from Jharkhand is also ready to undertake trade visits to interested countries at an appropriate time. He added that the initiative could play a key role in integrating Jharkhand with global supply chains and establishing the state as a credible long term investment partner.
The outreach comes at a time when Jharkhand is seeking to diversify its economy, reduce dependence on raw mineral extraction and attract investment in technology driven and sustainable sectors.
