Jamshedpur Gears Up for 187th Founder’s Day Celebrations

The Steel City is set to celebrate the 187th birth anniversary of its founder, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, with elaborate preparations underway across the city. The annual Founder’s Day celebrations will be observed with city-wide illumination, public events and homage ceremonies.

Jubilee Park, the centrepiece of the festivities, is being readied to offer visitors a grand visual experience. Illumination work has reached the final stage, and the park is expected to draw large crowds once it opens to the public for the celebrations. A laser show for citizens, public exhibitions and tribute ceremonies will form part of the programme.

In addition to Jubilee Park, Sir Dorabji Tata Park, Postal Park in Bistupur, Bhagwan Birsa Munda Park in Sakchi and Centenary Park in Tinplate are being decorated with decorative lighting.

Twelve key stretches across the city are also being illuminated. These include the Kadma–Sonari link road, the CFE roundabout–CH area road, the Rankini Temple–Kadma thana stretch and the Sakchi–Agrico road, among others. The initiative aims to give the city a festive look while ensuring smooth public access to major venues.

This year’s Founder’s Day will be observed on the theme, “One Vision, One Tata Steel,” underlining unity and integration across the organisation. Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran is scheduled to inaugurate the illumination.

Officials said the celebrations are designed to honour the legacy of Jamsetji Tata, whose vision laid the foundation of Jamshedpur as one of India’s leading industrial cities.

Authorities have also made arrangements for crowd management and security to ensure the smooth conduct of events.

The Founder’s Day celebrations remain one of the most significant annual events in Jamshedpur, drawing participation from residents, employees and visitors alike.
