RANCHI, March 17: Members of the Heavy Earth Moving Machinery sub-committee of the Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries on Tuesday raised concerns over delays and technical issues in online transport-related processes in the state.

The issues were discussed during a meeting held at the chamber office, where vehicle owners, transport operators and other stakeholders highlighted difficulties faced in dealing with online systems managed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and district transport offices.

According to members, corrections in district names in temporary registration of vehicles such as heavy motor vehicles, JCBs, loaders and buses are not being processed, causing inconvenience to owners.

They also pointed to delays in registration of BS-4 vehicles and said that applications for new trade licences are getting stuck due to technical issues in the online system.

Members said the requirement of additional documents, including Form 16A certificates, has made the application process more complex and prevented timely approvals.

Concerns were also raised over delays in ownership transfer processes, with stakeholders saying routine procedures are taking longer than usual.

Participants in the meeting alleged delays and irregularities in the functioning of the Ranchi district transport office, including issues related to fee collection and processing timelines.

Members said the online system is not functioning smoothly in several cases, even as applicants are being asked to deposit fees.

They also said registration of buses and taxis has been delayed for over a month due to issues related to vehicle tracking device requirements.

Dealers from several companies, including JCB, Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, L&T, Eicher and Tata, participated in the meeting and expressed concern over the situation.

The participants urged the chamber to take up the matter with the authorities and seek early resolution of the issues.

The meeting was attended by sub-committee chairman Abhishek Nemani, along with members and representatives from the transport and automobile sectors.
