RAMGARH, March 17: The second unit of 800 MW capacity of the Patratu Super Thermal Power Project (Phase-I) in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district was synchronised with the grid on Tuesday, officials said.
The synchronisation marks a key milestone in the progress of the project, which is expected to contribute to power generation capacity in the state and the region.
Senior officials of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL), including Chief Executive Officer A K Sehgal, were present on the occasion along with project and operational teams.
Other officials present included Chief General Manager (Project) Anupam Mukherjee, General Manager (O&M) Manish Kheterpal, General Manager (Project) Bishnu Datta Das, General Manager (Maintenance) O P Solanki, General Manager (Commissioning) Jogesh Chandra Patra, and Head of HR Ziaur Rahman.
Sehgal congratulated the teams of PVUNL and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and said the achievement reflects coordination and execution despite operational challenges.
He said the synchronisation of Unit-II is an important step towards advancing the project and improving power availability.
Officials said grid synchronisation is a critical stage in thermal power projects, indicating that the unit is ready for further testing and eventual commercial operation.
The Patratu Super Thermal Power Project is being developed in phases and is expected to strengthen power supply in Jharkhand and neighbouring regions.
According to officials, the project is part of efforts to enhance energy infrastructure and meet growing electricity demand.
